Roman Binchester app for iPhone and iPad

Explore a Roman Bath House near Durham, as well as the surrounding area.

The Architectural and Archaeological Society of Durham and Northumberland was founded in 1861 and has, since that time, pursued an active programme of lectures, field trips and publications.

Working with the Digital Building Heritage Group at De Montfort University, this app was produced with a digital reconstruction of the Roman Bathhouse as a centrepiece.

The Society will use the app over time to present the results of their research in to the Bathhouse and the surrounding area, using a combination of videos, images, scanned documents, and text. This will be collated in a location oriented way in the app, allowing you to browse this rich history in-situ.

This app allows you to:

- Explore a 3D model of the Bathhouse
- Navigate a rich collection of documents associated with the building
- Slice through the building to explore its structure
- Explore points of interest in the surrounding area


Future updates will include improving the quality of the 3D model and the way different media are presented in the app.
